由于互联网和信息时代的普及，数字教育愈发受欢迎。以往的数字教育主要有“电子黑板”，“电子书包”以及“学校之间的信息交流通道”这几种方式。在中国，数字教育越来越受亲睐。现在，随着越来越多高新科技公司参与其中使得整体解决方案由终端转变到了“云”端，从而开辟了一个数字教育的新时代。华为科技的合资企业天威数媒科技有限公司，在促进此理念形成的过程中起到了重要的推动作用。

从宏观角度讲，平板电脑和云端平台等数字媒体将会使以传统教科书为基础的学校教育焕然一新。虽然数字教育不可能完全取代传统的教学材料，但它将会在现代教育里扮演越来越重要的角色。整个教学方法和机制也将会被重新定义。通常,从基于数字化的教学内容、硬件和软件、到用户终端和应用软件，这些完整的解决方案将有较高的定位。他们中的大多数都着眼于未来平台的操作和应用。然而，在我看来，倘若这些数字教育系统过于追求多功能化而忽略了其本身的高新应用程序优势，那效果很可能会不尽如人意。例如，我认为数字教育里最具吸引力的是其个人定制化、即时教学/检查机制及其相关的应用程序。在线和现场测试/检查和即时反馈将更好地帮助教师教学和监控整个课堂情况以及每个学生的学习状态。这样的数字应用用于课堂教学将会激励学生充分参与课堂讨论和学习，尤其是当这些现场检查或测试结果将会影响学生的整体成绩的时候。

数字教育时代的到来是必然的，也将带来可观的经济效益。但是，数字教育将在何时、以何种方式进入成熟的发展应用阶段仍有待考量。

Attributed to the internet and information’s pervasive development, the so called Digital Education is rapidly picking up steam. Previously labeled with “Electrical Board”, “Electrical Bag” and “Information Pathway among Schools”, digital education is becoming more respect in China. Now with more high technology companies’ participation in this trend, the total solution from terminal to “cloud” has emerged, ushering in a new era of digital education. One of the most important contributors to this concept is Huawei’s joint-venture company called “Tianwen Digital Media Co., Ltd”.

In the grand scheme of things, our traditional textbook based school education will be revolutionized by digital media like “pad” and cloud platform. While digital education may not be an entire replacement to traditional material; it still will play an increasingly important role in modern education. The whole teaching methodology and mechanism will be redefined. Normally, those solutions target high as a complete provision, from digital based teaching content, hardware and software and to the user end terminal and its application software. Furthermore, the majority of them are thinking of operating the platform in the future. From my perspective, however, I question the effectiveness of those digital education systems if they overextend their roles and lose focus on its edge applications. For instance, I believe the most attractive application of digital education is its individual oriented, instant teaching / checking mechanism and its related applications. Online and on site quiz / check and instant feedback, will facilitate teachers’ teaching and monitoring the status of the whole class and each individual student. This tool used in classroom teaching will incent students to fully engage in class discussion and learning, especially when these on site check or quiz results will influence students’ overall grades.

The promises of digital education are irresistible and lucrative, but the problem is when and how it will become matured in the future.

在edX等创新型教育平台的推动下，“学习”这一概念在过去数年中已悄悄发生了巨大的变化。 由麻省理工学院和哈佛大学创立的edX是一个非营利性质的网上教学平台，立志于提供能与真实的课堂学习相比拟的、全新的虚拟学习体验。edX平台能够让世界各地的学习者充分参与及互动，来自不同地区的成千上万的教师及学生将受益匪浅。

从2012年的第一课“6.002x：电路及电子学”开始，edX已提供了三十多门不同学科的课程，如量子力学、人工智能和希腊文学。除麻省理工学院和哈佛大学外，加州大学伯克利分校、多伦多大学及澳大利亚国立大学等许多其他的世界顶级大学也纷纷加入，在edX平台上提供自己的课程。

那么，怎样才能参与到edX平台上的课程，学费又是多少呢？事实上，成为一名edX学生没有任何的入学要求。任何人只要能接入互联网，就可以在edX（www.edx.org）上创建一个用户帐号并免费注册想要学习的课程。注册加入edX平台上学习没有年龄、现有学历或社会经济状况的限制。 在学习体验方面，edX在其网络平台上加入了一些传统课堂学习中的元素，如配有注释的讲课视频、问题集锦以及考试。更重要的是，学习者可以根据自己的能力和时间来调整学习的进度。当他们在学习中碰到困难，也可以从课程讲师管理的网上课程论坛中寻求答案。在成功完成所有的课程要求后，学习者将会获得由edX颁发的证书。

值得一提的是，edX开发的技术不仅针对于提升学习者的体验，同时也赋予了教师更多的权利与便利。比如，由edX和斯坦福大学共同开发的新开放源代码技术能够帮助教师简化创立个人课程材料的流程。目前已有超过200家高等教育机构表示，希望在不久的将来与edX开展合作。

网络在线学习的革新已经开始，并且很可能即将广泛地改变高等教育的现有面貌。中国的教师和学生可对此进展保持密切关注。同时，有意愿出国留学的中国学生也可以利用这样免费的学习机会，以此作为与其它学生及教授在知识上沟通的桥梁。

"Learning" has quietly undergone some drastic transformation over the past few years, thanks to the innovation introduced by education providers like edX. Founded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, edX is a nonprofit venture with a vision to offer a new virtual learning experience that is almost comparable to real-life classroom learning. The edX’s learning platform is designed to enable massive interactivity and participation among learners from different parts of the world. Millions of learners and educators alike from different demographic regions are expected to benefit from the edX endeavor in the years to come.

Since its first course "6.002x: Circuits and Electronics" offered in 2012, edX has created over 30 courses covering a broad range of disciplines such as quantum physics, artificial intelligence and Greek literature. In addition to MIT and Harvard, many other top-tier universities such as Berkeley, University of Toronto and Australian National University have joined forces to offer their own courses through the edX platform.

How to enroll an edX course and how much does it charge? There is practically no admission requirement to become an edX learner. Anyone with Internet access can create a user account with edX (www.edx.org) and register courses for free. The edX enrollment process does not take into consideration of your age, prior education background or socioeconomic status.

In terms of learning experience, edX offers a few traditional elements of classroom learning through its online platform such as videos of lecture (with annotation), problem sets and examinations. Importantly, learners can adjust the pace of their learning according to their own ability and availability. When problems are encountered in their study, learners can seek help from online discussion forums moderated by course instructors. Upon successful completion of all the course’s requirements, learners will be awarded with certificates issued by edX.

It worths mentioning that technologies developed by edX are directed not only to enhance learners’ experience, but also to empower educators. For example, new open-source technologies are being developed by edX in collaboration with Stanford University to assist educators by streamlining the process to create customized course materials. More than 200 institutions of higher learning from all over the world have expressed interests in collaborating with edX in the near future.

It appears that the revolution in online learning has already begun and it will likely transform the landscape of higher learning on a grand scale soon. Students and educators in China should pay close attention to this movement. In the meantime, Chinese students who intend to study abroad should take advantage of this free learning opportunity as a way to connect themselves intellectually with other students and professors.

在教育思想家眼中，网络教育正发展成为不可忽视的力量，其发展态势正在快速逼近面对面的教学方式。虽然此时尚不能客观准确地预言网络教育的未来发展状况，但侧面来看网络教育的发展态势良好且极具潜力。

Since the days of great philosophers such as Plato and Socrates, educators across the world have sought to enrich the pedagogical experience with fresh, vibrant thoughts and experiences. Over the course of the past centuries, the avenues of education have continued to evolve. Here at KCG, we constantly strive to be a global leader of innovative, relevant educational pursuits and exhausting the channels of novel educational ideologies. Today, as global societies continue to march towards a digitalized future, it is more important now than ever that we direct our sights to digital-based education, and the subsequent benefits, take-aways, that accompany it.

While our understandings of the intricacies and details of the online education processes remains explorative at best, certainly significant strides have been made in the field. Now more than ever, online education is making its way into mainstream secondary and post-secondary curriculums. In terms of course content, digital education is not bounded by traditional disciplines of science, the arts, among others; capable of effectively providing students with classes infields such as Physics, Chemistry; History, or Geography. Moreover, the popularization of online education has seemingly eliminated many of the trivial tasks that previously riddled the instructor. By relying partly on online methods of education and teaching, such as automatic homework-checking and reviewing, instructors are able to streamline their attention on the lecturing process, and other more demanding tasks. Finally, perhaps the greatest advantage of online teaching lies in its flexibility to accommodate the demands of the particular student. The nature of online teaching allows the pedagogical process to forgo the formal setting of the classroom, and tailor to the schedule of the student.

Digital education is a growing force among educational thinkers, and is rapidly gaining ground on traditional forms of face-to-face teaching methods. Certainly, it would be impossible to provide a fair and accurate image of the future, but the snapshot of digital education is a beautiful one, one of hope and promise.
